Brookwood Baptist Medical Center was the first hospital in the state to receive the Better Bama Babies Hospital Recognition, on April 27, 2019. Administration, physicians, staff and mothers from support groups were present for the ceremony and refreshments. Congrats to Sande Brewton and Glenda Dickerson for the hard work of their staff to meet these goals.
Madison Hospital was the first hospital in north Alabama and the first Baby Friendly designated hospital to receive the Better Bama Babies (BBB) Hospital Recognition, on May 1, 2019. Congrats to nurse manager Renee Colquit, nursing staff, and lactation staff for their hard work and dedication to become a BBB facility. Madison Hospital is also a Baby Friendly designated facility.
Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center, in Anniston, was the third hospital to receive the Better Bama Babies (BBB) Hospital Recognition, on June 7, 2019. Staff, nurse manager Lynn Watson, and lactation nurse Jennifer Gallahar were on hand for the presentation, along with Dr. Lewis Doggett, who is a founding member and past chair of the Alabama Breastfeeding Committee. This facility was the first hospital in the state to receive Baby Friendly designation.
North Baldwin Infirmary received its Better Bama Babies Hospital Recognition program on September 19, 2019. The ceremony was attended by administration, hospital physicians, Nurse Manager Gena Cash, Christa Rudat, IBCLC, and staff members. North Baldwin Infirmary has also received Baby Friendly designation.
Monroe County Hospital celebrated their recognition as the fifth Better Bama Babies Hospital in Alabama, on November 7, 2019. The obstetrical staff celebrated with hospital administration, physicians, and staff from virtually all areas within the hospital. A beautiful cake and punch was served. Monroe County Hospital is also a Baby Friendly Hospital facility. Congratulations to all for their hard work!
