In 2017, our Ten Steps Committee officially became our Baby Friendly Committee. The goal of this committee is to help any hospital in the state, who is interested in becoming Baby Friendly, by assigning one of our Baby Friendly hospitals to act as a mentor for that hospital. We are fortunate to have five Baby Friendly hospitals in Alabama, with the staff of all five facilities, interesting in becoming a mentor to assist others. Surveys were recently mailed out to hospitals who have shown some interest and assignments have been made with two hospitals thus far. The University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB) will be mentoring the University of South Alabama in their efforts. Regional Medical Center, in Anniston, will be assisting DCH, in Tuscaloosa. We are happy to be able to support our hospitals throughout the state, in their efforts.
